"En 1979 Gal Costa montó el espectáculo Gal Tropical. He aquí el álbum que recopila el repertorio que mostró durante aquella temporada. Si bien no tengo muchos más antecedentes sobre él y es el primer L.P. que compro y escucho íntegramente de Gal Costa, quedé gratamente impresionado. Tiene ese sonido pulcro de la música brasileña de la década del setenta y una excelente calidad técnica. La interpretación de Gal es simplemente sobervia y las canciones recorren autores tan destacados como Caetano Veloso y Roberto Carlos. Aquí Gal Costa nos muestra que para ser tropical no hay que sólo tocar samba, también la bossa es parte del repertorio y la música tradicional no sólo de Brasil sino que además algún bolerito. Pero sin duda lo mejor es cuando empiezan los tambores y el ritmo acelerado se apodera de todo."
