A CLASSIC PAIRING, A GREAT RECORDING

"Another one of my rare reviews of a classical recording - my knowledge being limited, and my claim as an authority being nonexistent, I'll keep it brief. These two great works are often presented together - over the years, I've owned three or four different recordings of them. This one is without a doubt my favorite. The performances are flawless and inspired, and the recording - as I have come to expect from Hyperion - is stunning in its clarity and ability to reproduce the dynamic range demanded by these works. The organ passages in particular would challenge the talents of any recording engineer - on this cd, they come across beautifully. Nothing is lost, nothing is overdone. The voices of the Corydon Singers are brilliantly represented as well - their performance is nothing short of transporting. Highly recommended."
