CD ReviewsLong Lost Passion Al Schneider | US | 03/24/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "I found this album on-line at 2:30 in the morning and almost died. I'm from the Rockford, Il. area and this album, when first released was legend round here. A small group of us have recorded and re-recorded the original album many times attempting to restore some of the sonics. I would have never thought this album would show up on CD.This was a ground breaking album for it's time. There was nothing to compare it to. It was rock, progressive rock and fusion all rolled into one. The guitar was very sophisticated compared to the other light stuff being cut. To me this was the beginning of hard rock/progressive rock that all else followed. Wonderful album!" WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME GARY GUZZARDO | usa | 05/21/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "WHAT A GREAT RECORD I grew up with these guys in Rockford IL . I think the record was way ahead of its time . The guitar performance of Craig Myers was Brilliant." NOT Cheap Trick... D. Payne | Llano, CA USA | 10/16/2001 (3 out of 5 stars) "I didn't "grow up" with these guys. I did get to listen to them, though. They didn't get a lot of attention around Chicago, but not because they didn't deserve it. There was just way too much competition. Joe Sundberg's vocals were (and are) top-notch. The two best cuts are "Across the Skies" and "Permanent Resident" the rest mostly providing filler. Their sound was more remeniscent of late 60's psychedelic bands. Fuse was an excellent bar band and this LP doesn't really show them in their best light. But if you want to hear Nielson pre-Cheap Trick, get this LP. Fuse broke up not too long after this LP came out with Nielson and Peterson forming Cheap Trick and Meyers and Green later forming Silver Fox; both bands being better than Fuse. I had the pleasure of having them both perform (at separate times)at a club I used to manage near Waukegan in the 70's.
UPDATE- I previously credited Rick Nielson as the guitarist for the band. In actuality, it was Craig Meyers who did the excellent guitar work on this LP. Rick played keyboards." |
