A Crawling Chaos NOT FOR HUMANS!

"Most of you know him as Mortuus from Marduk; but BEFORE that incarnation he was Arioch, and with his evil twisted minion Necromorbus produced this one full album of material(whereas "Devilry" is an ep along with demo material). To say Mortuus is a much more civilized, Perry Como-esque incarnation is hogwash? "Blasphemy", in fact? Well, here is the aural PROOF! A satisfyingly tricky intro that literally ERUPTS into a swirling miasma of ripping Black MeTal guitars, an enticing peppering of thrash, wrapped around a barbed wire impaling pole which is Arioch's vocal performance...truly, truly insane howls of torment and fury, gasping and snarling shrieks of madness and contempt for all things wholesome. I would have to say that this album IS too much, too frightening, too unsettling and GRUESOME for many "casual" Black MeTal listeners! There are some utterly macabre instumental/sample interludes, including a lingering chanting which I THINK is culled from the classic witchcraft film "Horror Hotel/City of the Dead", as well as a haunting outro that is unforgettable as it is unplaceable. The production on this is quite good, but the music contained herein is NOT something "normal" production values have anything to do with(it is NOT "lo-fi"). The tempos run the gamut from plodding funeral dirges to the more prevalent blurring, clanking speed. This album is indescribable in common music terminology...it is one of the absolute epitomes of what Black MeTal is supposed to be all about. Chaos, Violence, Darkness, and Horror.....ESPECIALLY Darkness and Horror. Look also for Arioch in the (now defunct?) band Triumphator."
