Masterpiece of all time Proportions!!

"Here is another band from a relatively small label (Scarlet Records)that I had never heard of before (just like the other 99.9% of the population) yet has managed to completely leave me in awe of the sheer metal brilliance on display here!

Where to start, this band plays hard hitting melodic metal with a few thrash and prog elements thrown in. They sound to me like a mixture of Nocturnal Rites, Tad Morose, and Nevermore. So were talking about high quality melodic metal played in a very heavy and modern way.

On this their debut album 'When Dream and Fate Collide' Frequency proves that a relatively unknown act on a small label can compete and even surpass bands that are leaders of their genre. Granted it does not happen too often, and that's part of what makes the surprise of discovering bands like these so fun and satisfying. Pyramaze, Deadly Sin, and Manitou are examples of some other uncommonly known bands that have impressed me in similar fashion.

On to the album itself, the songs are so well written, performed, and executed, you would think that this band has been around for quite some time constantly working on honing their craft and finally stumbling on the perfect metal formula! I mean these songs are that good yet it may take a few spins to get into. The music is definately catchy but not in a too obvious way. Frequency are clever in the way they write songs. It's catchy upon immediate listens, but the songs reveal themselves even further upon repeated listenings and get even better.

The guitar players come up with some blistering and modern sounding guitar riffs and solo's. My guess is that they are using 7 string guitars. The singer's voice is also very impressive. Strong and powerful yet with a slight bluesy tone that is able to encompass all of the melody, emotion, and power that these songs require. The ryhtym section is very tight and of first class caliber while the crystal clear and powerful production leaves nothing more to be desired.

In conclusion this has to be one of the best metal albums of all time in my book! Shocking, yes it may sound that way, but I encourage anybody to visit the scarlet records website where you can download the amazing opening track from the album 'Oblivion' to hear for yourself. The official band website also offers several clips that can be heard. You have to realize that an album like this just won't get the promotion it deserves. I discovered it purely by accident.

I just picked this release up (early 2007) but it will be my number #1 album of the year for 2006 which was an extremely outstanding year for metal releases in and of itself.

I can't wait to hear more from this incredible band!

Though they might have set the bar so high it may be nearly impossible to top!!"
