CD ReviewsThey are the chosen ones 08/29/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Freezepop's music can heal. I had a painful burn that went away after I touched the speakers out from which "Science Genius Girl" was pumping. The blippy beats and lo-fi, high concept goodness also helped my cat. He had this fear of my new couch. But when "Tender Lies" was playing, he seemed comfortable approaching it. Now he and the couch are good friends, all thanks to Freezepop. I have friends who say they've seen Freezepop walk on water. No kidding. It was on that river that runs through Boston, whatever it's called. And they've healed lepers. And there are three of them. THREE. Think about it - if the godhead were to come to earth, wouldn't he appear as a trio of whip-smart, deconstructed versions of 80's pop icons? I think you can put it all together. Buy this album, and win the approval of the deity. So let it be written...so let it be done." Synth Pop Genius Girl (and Boys) chrischarles75 | 06/02/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "This CD demonstrates why they won US Synth Pop Band of the Year award. Synth pop is their canvas, and they are masters of their art. They have a touch of genius about everything they do - the 80s style lyrics and vocal tones, their awesome synth sounds, the clothes they wear, even the self-made flash videos on the website. All done with a hint of retro comedy running through everything. This CD will put a smile on the face of any synth pop fan." Best Synth Pop since heyday of the "Pirate Shirt" F. F. Palmroos | Charlotte | 05/20/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Having been a synth pop fan from the late 70s (Gary Numan [first 3 albums], Kraftwerk) and into the 80s (Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Yaz, Men Without Hats, Erasure, OMD, many others), I hadn't heard anything decent in a long time from a new artist in the genre. I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact that the radio stations stopped playing alternative dance music about 12 years ago...!One afternoon, I spent a LOT of time on MP3, just looking for something new in the category. I found lots of bands (interesting side note: a lot from northern Europe; don't know how to explain that fact) but found most to be lacking in one way or another, particularly due to bad vocals. Then, I happened upon Freezeop; after hearing a few samples, I ordered the "Forever" CD from Amazon, and once I played it at home I couldn't believe how great this group is! Very simple, very organized, very neat, very cool pop. The louder the better! I love this group and hope to catch them live someday. My only fear: that I listen to the CD so much that I get tired of it. Can't wait for the next album.Freezepop are Forever!"
