"Fredro Starr is one of the best Mcs out of Onyx right? Right. That means that this album should have been great right? Yeah. Then why is it criminally suspect? Your guess is as good as mine. After a very cocky intro, three of the best tracks would appear. Dyin 4 Rap, What If and Thug Warz feat Outlawz. Dyin 4 Rap is what the majority of this album should have sounded like. What If is one of the question asking songs where Fredro ponders on different subjects. Thug Warz is a tight collabo with The Outlawz. It all goes downhill from there. Perfect B**** is horrible and kind of creepy. Any DJ who was bold enough to play Electric Ice(feat Mieva and X1) and Dat B Dem in a club would have gotten a pair of Tims shoved up his a** like a suppository. Who F*** Betta would get you seriously laughed at by that significant other. Fredro wastes a dope beat on Big Shots feat Big Sin with lazy raps. Even the collaboration with Sticky Fingaz and X1 called Soldierz is straight up buttcrack. One Night with Begetz, Vesatile and a pathetic appearance by Ice-T is just as butt as Soldierz. The Dyin 4 Rap remix with Capone, Nore, Young Noble and Cuban Link is pretty good. Aaron Hall ruined any chance that I Dont Wanna had with his awful singing/yelling. The album ends with a good cut called Shining Through. Bottom Line: Firestarr is a tepid release from an MC who should have been capable of much better work. The lyrics were lazy and the beats were generic and stale. If he would have shaved the album down to that best 5 songs(Dyin 4 Rap, Dyin 4 Rap remix, What If, Thug Warz and Shining Through)on the album and shaved off the filler, this would have been a great EP. Instead he goes for commercial appeal and falls on his face hard. Fredro Starr is one of the illest MCs out of Onyx but this album and his second album prove that he cant make a great album by himself. Standouts: DYIN 4 RAP(original and remix), WHAT IF, THUG WARZ and SHINING THROUGH."
