One of Hubbard's Best..

"I orginally bought this LP back when it was first released, being a young trumpet player wanting to discover the jazz styles of the great Freddie Hubbard. I was already a Hubbard fan, but what struck me about me about this album were the incredibly unique and beautiful string arrangements by Claus Ogerman that are the framework and setting for most of what happens on this recording. The album also features the finest ever version of "Little Sunflower", featuring Al Jarreau on vocals.
Most of the album is very reflective and ethereal, but Ogerman's arrangemnts are the star here, transporting you to someplace you've not visited before if you've never heard him. Hubbard's mostly fluegelhorn solos are a perfect guide to this other world, and a perfect mesh with the arrangements.
I have been avidly, desparately looking for this recording to come out on CD forever, and now my wishes have been answered at last. This album influenced me so much musically I would just about pay any price for this pristine recording! This will be in short-list of most precious CD's I own.
