A buried treasure, but don't be fooled

"Toe Tappin Happy Polkas appears to be the same CD, with the tracks re-arranged, as Lets Have a Party, also known as Diamond Jubilee, on the same label. Performed with just five instruments -- two accordions, banjo, stand-up bass, and an electronic keyboard ("solovox") -- it nevertheless combines good rhythm (provided by just the bass and banjo) with great melodies. As is often the case with Frankie's between-heydays recordings, the polkas are good, but the waltzes are better, especially Say Thank You Dear, Let's Be Sentimental, and Alpine Climber's Ball. The recording quality is solid, with good bass even when played on a one-piece boombox. It's a buried treasure, but don't buy it if you already have it under one of its two earlier names."
