"There is no question that Frank Catalano is a huge talent on the tenor and that this disc is a great display of that talent. His sound is massive and he takes over each track (I mean, I'm not really interested in hearing the rhythm section anyway--no disrespect intended because they totally kill throughout). Clearly, they were all out of bubble gum that night.



No question, either, that Frank really grooves with some serious energy through each track, but he tends gets a little repetitive too frequently and honks/strains his sound too many times.



The track "Burner's Blues" is a standout showing of Frank's technique up and down the horn from Trane-like sheets of sound to totally funky. Definitely the best here.



Call me a purist or an idiot, whatever, but I could do without the annoying beat box of the alternate version of the track "Mighty Burner."



Finally, I wish I had known this was a "live" disc going in; the background noise is pretty annoying at times (particularly during the opening track). Dude, please take it into the studio; we want to hear the sound and not the chattering and screaming idiots in the crowd.



Overall, well worth the money for me and my whole family."
