"I heard this music on [...] and the airy texture appealed to me. Two traversii, horns, trumpets and strings. Traverso double the strings. Brass provide fanfares. This music was written to accompany an exhibition of mechanical theatrical devices in Paris - a pantomime. Never heard of that before! It was the first and only attempt by Geminiani to write music for such a project.
Apparently the production didn't go so well, BUT the music is still here and to me it does conjour images of an enchanted woodland with birds and animals. Hunters charging through on horseback with their hounds and horns. I am glad the music survived!"
