In London during the second half of the eighteenth century, there was already an established local tradition of printed music containing keyboard reductions of concert repertoire. One such print was Geminiani's "Celebrated... more » Six Concertos, as performed by Mr. Cramer." This was Wilhelm Cramer (1746-1799), a precocious prodigy who had studied under Stamitz and was already a member of the famous orchestra in Mannheim. He was considered one of England's most brilliant violinists for some twenty years.« less
