"Those are the things that come to mind after listening to this album. Floor seem to be more of a cult band than anything else, and although that's pretty cool in it's own right they deserve so much more respect. They should be as 'famous' as Helmet, in a sense, as i'd say people who enjoy Helmet would definitely enjoy Floor, if not moreso. Floor seem to be an even heavier, angrier version of Helmet, mixed with Eyehategod and to a lesser extent Sleep. Fans of those three bands in particular should get the most out of this album and this incredible band.
As soon as you hear the first song, "Who Are You?", you'll be hooked. Totally mosh-worthy, totally aggressive, totally in-your-face..this song is the perfect opener in my opinion. Steve Brooks' vocals/yelling/screaming suit the type of music Floor play perfectly, and even his sort of spoken words on the song "In A Day" fit well with the mood of the song.
I also love the guitar tone Floor has. All of their songs are heavy due to this guitar tone they have. Some of the songs on this album especially can be similar to the band Eyehategod in that there's some feedback and "Beeeeeeeeeeep" type riffs going on, but then other riffs sound similar to what Helmet might play so it's hard to put Floor into one sort of genre..i don't really think they fit into any sort of genre personally.
"Dove" and "I Remember Nothing" are the longest songs on this album, going for 18:02 mins and 15:57 mins respectively. They never get boring though, which is the awesome thing. If you're into Sunn 0))), Earth, Boris or Sleep (Or Doom Metal in general where songs last way over the 10 minute mark and the guitars droooooone), you'll appreciate those songs i think. To think this album came out in 1994 is amazing, since Earth were doing their thing around the same time as well. Which is what i mean by saying Floor should be more well-known and respected than they seem to be.
This CD and band are incredible, and if you're a fan of the bands i've already mentioned you should definitely pick this and their other album up immediately. I don't think you'll be disappointed. My own personal experience with listening to Floor for the first time was...Wow. They mix so many different styles of Metal together, and pull it off so well. This album is totally 5/5."
