CD ReviewsThis Floating World's a Dream - Long May We Float T. Anders | Thompsons Station, Tennessee | 06/14/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Holmes, Evans, and Bishop - The Floating Men. This cd is the Bible to the Floatilla, those ravenous and rapacious rascals who can float along with TFM through every "elbows and knees", "I get all freaked out!", and "There goes Sacha now!" moment these discs have to offer...and they offer a lot. It was a great weekend at 12th and Porter that Thanksgiving, and the Floating Men put it all out there for three nights. I was fortunate enough to have been through all three (including and especially the unplugged finale "Swallowed by the Night") and this is just an outstanding archive of one of the south's best kept secrets; the songwriting of Jeff Holmes and the "event" that is a Floting Men show. "Butter in the Sun" became the first non-Beatle song I learned to play when I finally put a guitar in my hands and I once sent this cd to Albert Von Schweikert of Von Schweikert Audio to demonstrate his speakers using the "bloom" of Bishop's drum part during the opening bars of "The Idle Hours". There are two kinds of people in the world; those who know the Floating Men...and those who don't."
