"This collection does have a purpose, but you have to dig to find it since the discs don't come with liner notes. The first half of disc 1 includes all the studio tracks cut in Australia in 1986 to capitalize on the Groovies tour down-under (it shows the influence of punk on the band's sound). The second half of disc 1 and the first half of disc 2 include a live recording of the Groovies at a 1987 music festival in Spain (the quality is quite good for a live set and was recorded by Dave Edmunds -- of "Shake Some Action" fame). The last half of disc 2 consists of the entire first Groovies album from 1968 (great Loney material!). My first impulse is to give it three stars for lack of information about such different sounding stuff. But the Groovies themselves -- and the price -- overcome reservations on that count. So, four stars it is. Enjoy!"

"This compilation seems to have randomly tossed together 2 CDs worth of material without so much as a hint of their genius. There are exactly two cuts listed here, "You Tore Me Down" and the immortal "Shake Some Action" that deserve a place on this release. Where are "Between the Lines", "Sometimes", "Yes It's True" and a plethora of other great Groovies grooves? This set is incomprehensible. Get "Groovies' Greatest Grooves" and get happy."
