Pepper | Naples, FL United States | 05/22/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "Thirty years ago or so I asked a street hustler in Juarez where I could go to hear mariachi or other reasonably authentic Mexican music and was told, "We don't play that cheat no more. You wanna hear that cheat go back to San Antonio." Never did find it..until I stumbled on Flaco's Amigos. It was worth every minute of the waiting. Talk about a bargain. Not only did I get Flaco Jimenez's considerable skill on the accordion, but I discovered that Flaco teams up on several songs on this disc with the talented Peter Rowan (famous for his "Free Mexican Air Force Is Flying Tonight," one of his duets with Flaco.) And THEN I found one of Flaco's amigos was one of my long standing musical amigo, Ry Cooder, who turns up here with his customary panache on mandolin and slide guitar. This one's a bargain at ten times the price.!"
