Super Jazz From DIVA Players!

"Sherrie Maricle and DIVA are a great big band: now she takes her high-power style of drumming into a quintet with excellent results. From DIVA, Sherrie has brought Lorraine Desmarais on piano and Nicki Parrott on bass and together they for one of the tightest rhythm sections I have heard in a long time. And altos Laura Dreyer and Karoline Strassmayer are wonderful players in any style. The only beef I have with this CD (and its a minor beef) is that it never tells you which of the altos is soloing in any of the tunes. But beyond that, this is a CD to definitely have in your collection. I hope we hear more from Five Play soon!"

From almost big band to unique sounds - FANTASTIC!

"I knew I had to have this CD after Bob Perkins played a single cut on WRTI (How Insensitive)! That cut, with alto versus flute was wonderful. The first cut (I'll Get By) has a quintet with an almost big band sound. The rest of the CD is driving, solid and I realy wish I knew which horn player was whom. They can play - brought back fond memories....."
