WOW! His best work since the early 80's

"Fish is at it again. A little more solid. A little less silly. Same old creativity."
Not Fish's best work

"I don't get it! I bought this CD when my interest in prog music resssurfaced in 2002. I thought it would be good to start with a copilation disc to get to know Fish's solo work since he left Marillion. Up til then I only knew his first solo album, Vigil In A Wil;derness Of Mirrors (and I loved it). I was so disappointed with what I heard I almost did not bother to hear his other solo works. Thank God I changed my mind! I found out Fish had released great albuns (even the very underated and much maligned Suits CD).But Yin is really a mistaken collection. Some of Fish's weakest tracks of all his career are included here (Pipeline, Tongues, Favourite Stranger, Raw Meat are the most obvious), while some of his strongest stuff are completely forgotten. And I still don't understand why he bothered to re-record some of his old Marillion songs. They are fantastic tunes, but they were already perfect recorded with his former band. Besides, most of his fans already have bought all Marillion albums of the 80's. To be totally honest it would not be fair to say all the tracks are worthless. Just Good Friends is much better here than it appears on the Internal Exile album because it includes Sam Brown's fantastic vocals (the original song cried out to be sung in a duet). The album also includes a interesting re-recording of Boston Tea party with the Sensational Alex Harvey Band backing Fish, which is very nice. And, for the hardcore Marillion fans only, he even recorded a rejected old Marillion song, Institution Waltz. You only have to listen to it one time to understand why it should have been kept in the can.If you are looking for a good Fish Best of collection I recommed the very well done Kettle Of Fish. This one's not, bar the exceptions I mentioned above. Besides, even his weakest songs are still listenable and not really bad(and that's why I give it a 3 star rating. It should be only 2 really. But, really, I'm a BIG fan...)"
