"While titled "A Tribute To John Lee Hooker", the CD, with the exception of "Boogie Children" does not contain any songs penned by the great John Lee. Nor is there evidence of the influence of John Lee either in Tasby's vocals or in guitarist Damon Van Buran's capable playing. And, despite being listed as an executive producer and the inclusion of a couple of photos on the liner notes, John Lee shows up nowhere musically on the disc. What you get here is more of a CD dedicated to the memory of John Lee in traditional blues fashion. On the disc, Finis sings the songs of Willie Dixon, Joe Hunter, Jimmy Ford and a couple of Tasby originals in a style reminiscent of BB King. The disc also features Zakiya Hooker on the track "You Don't Have to Worry". This is a very good CD although I will admit that I have somewhat of a soft spot in my heart for the older blues musicians. In any event, Tasby puts out a fine effort that is worth listening to. If you like this, you may want to give Enrico Crivellaro's new release "Key to My Kingdom" a listen as Tabby performs the vocals on that disc as well."
