"I work in the music industry for a classical music label. Opera, among other things, has appealed to me since childhood. Today one is rarely surprised by a new female vocalist. Despite years of exposure to what some snobbishly call "pure" opera, I fell in love with Ms. Giordano's voice immediately. Granted, she utilizes microphonics in an unusual way, but it allows the listener to hear every intake of breath, every fluctuation of fleeing, and as such, brings one closer to the emotion that the aria was designed to produce. This is the first vocalist I've encountered who sings arias to the individual listener rather than an imagined audience hall.
When it comes to established art forms, it is difficult to remain open minded. Madame Butterfly, for example, was a disaster when it first premiered. On the other hand, there's a fine line between doing justice to old art and polluting it with cheap flourishes and modern marketing. Fillipa does not cross that line, though be warned that a few of her tracks are modern ballads. She is a taker of risks.
The only problem I have is that she hasn't released an album in a significant period of time. Which is odd, considering her acclaim in Italy. Apparently she is in the process of being signed by Sony, though I haven't yet confirmed this. Until I find out, I must say that wherever you are, Filippa, make more music!

"If you are an opera fan you'll like this album and if you are a fan of ABBA you'll adore it as there is a duet "La barcarolle" from Les contes d'Hofmann sung by Filippa and Frida Lyngstad"

"I really love Filippa Gioradno. She has a real great voice. Most of people think that she can't do sing the opera songs in a pop-way, but they are wrong. introduced by Filippa to the opera music i really fell in love with real opera. Listening to Mozart,Bellini,Verdi,Puccini and the others.
For those who want to learn about opera in an easy way...this cd is for you.
