CD Reviews

Can't recommend it strongly enough
Winter Aura | Orange County, CA USA | 07/15/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Condo Life is a groundbreakingly unique album that defies easy classification. It's sophisticated yet accessible, eclectic yet coherent. Stylistically the tracks are all over the map, yet they are held together by an overriding lyrical concept and distinct production style. I'm reluctant to site favorite tracks, because it's clear that the album is intended to be taken in as a unit. We're only halfway through the year, but I have a hunch Condo Life will stand as my favorite album of 2003."
"Condo Life" Raises Fidgital To New Heights

"How does one classify Fidgital's music? Is it House? Is it Pop? Is it Big Band Electronica? However you try to define their music, and description falls short of what you'll find on this album. This sophomoric effort is just plain fun. I've heard few albums that contained this much energy, and even fewer that were this original. The core of the band returns, with Ryan Slemko performing his outstanding vocals full-time, as opposed to the two songs he performed on Fidgital's previous offering, Spyglass (which contained the exciting hit single, 'Hit And Run". The meshing between Gillard's music and Slemko's vocals are a fine combination this time around. The sound is much more refined, though styles change drastically from track to track. "In This Situation", "Brand New Wave", and the brooding "How Can I Go Wrong?" are just some of the bright spots here.Perhaps not mainstream enough for United States, but dripping with party-oriented originality and talent, this album is sure to please anyone who tires of the same repetitive house techno that we've become all-too accustomed to."
New Sound From Canada !!!

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Infectious pop ! "Any other way" and "You know me better than you do " are my faves. This cd clocks in at 69 minutes/15 tracks with nothing I would describe as filler. This cd has a lot of catchy hooks, and very danceable tunes. For the sit down listener there are a lot of wild (sometimes dizzying) production techniques, intelligent, witty, (often tongue in cheek) lyrics, cool jazzy solos including guest jazz musicians. Songs like Brand New Wave and How Can I Go Wrong take Fidgital into the 'arena' of meloncholy orchestral cinematic pop - at times remenisscent of David Sylvian or Scott Walker.
Over all much more of a Fidgital 'sound' than the previous Spyglass cd, which was at times struggling for an identity. This cd scores high on my groove-o-meter !! Very radio friendly intelligent pop music. I highly recommend this one !"
