"This is a simply stunning recording by the Argentinian composer/pianist Fernando Otero. The compositions are well structured and varied, mixing elements of tango nuevo, twentieth century classical and a bit of jazz, to come up with a mix that is much greater than the sum of its parts. Equally strong are the performances by Otero and his fellow musicians. The solos pack more emotion into a single note than most artists display in an entire number. The violins sob and soar, the bandoneon moans, the piano alternates crystalline riffs with tender single note melodies. Each note trembles with emotion and every performance is superb. What astonishes even more is that Otero was in his early 20s when he composed and recorded these pieces. I cannot recommend this recording enough. This is music to feed the soul and unleash impossible dreams."
