Delightful over-the-top musical numbers and performances.

"Not as well-know as "The Boy Friend," Sandy Wilson's "Valmouth" is far more sophisticated and funny. Highlights include all of Cleo Laine's numbers (as the mysterious masseuse), Marica Ashton's "My Talking Day" (the one day she is hilariously relieved of her vows of silence), and Geoffrey Dunn's "The Cathedral of Clemenza," that always has me rolling in laughter no matter how many times I hear it."
A rich musical score

"Sandy Wilson's loveliest musical score is best served by this original London Cast recording.
The only cavil being the lack of orchestra and frequent use of a period electronic keyboard and this rich score demands more than what it's been given.
Melodically and lyrically this is a gem. Much more sophisticated than Wilson's The Boyfriend. Gorgeous. Someday hopefully we may get a new version that orchestrally does justice to Wilson's masterpiece.
