"It's hard listen to these without feeling cheered. I have heard much of this work played by others, and for me the varied but generally spirited tempo of this performance - playful then reflective - is perfect, better than some other more earnest or plodding renditions. The recording is clear and with intimacy well balanced against resonance / echo / sound decay. I can close my eyes and believe there's a piano in my living room (which is not a concert hall). As these deceptively simple pieces were written with 'amateur' pianists in mind, this suits the music perfectly. Highly recommended."
