CD ReviewsFaye's Masterpiece? Sean Feeney | San Francisco, CA United States | 11/12/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I rarely write online reviews, but I wanted to offer a counterpoint to the other review posted below. I'm a huge Faye Wong fan, and she has many great albums, but to me "Fable" may be her best. The majority of the album consists of songs backed mostly by electronic beats with a full orchestra, and to put it mildly, they are amazing. Bjork did a similar thing with her "Homogenic" album, but I have to say I've played "Fable" quite a bit more. The beauty and power of these songs is simply stunning. Later in the album is a series of 4 songs that return to a more rock or pop style production, and those are good as well... and then the album wraps up with two songs that are some of the best she's ever recorded: Goodbye Firefly, and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. Faye is a great artist, but wtih "Fable" she's surely recorded a major work of art, and I wish more people could hear it. The lyrics are beautiful poetry as well, although I'm sure they read better in Mandarin. Highly recommended."
