"Contrary to the title this is not a live recording, but simply a splendid greatest hits package from one of the finest honky tonk singers this side of Hank Williams, Faron Young. Spanning ten years it features all his hits from the period such as "Hello Walls" and "Sweet Dreams" as well as some lesser known gems. If you like your country hard and real with lots of fiddles and steel, you could do a lot worse than invest in this excellent cd!"
Lots of heartbreak and high lonesome sadness.

"This record has more rock'n'roll spirit than a million modern "punk" or "alternative" albums. Sure, it's country and that might make it un-cool for urban hipsters, but this is pure heart-felt, honest and true American music. Like many country artists of the 50's and 60's, Faron Young has an almost blues-like quality. The songs are timeless in that they deal with love, drinkin', livin' hard and loss. Those are just the kind of topics that never go out of style or get boring because they are at the very core of the human experience."
The best of Faron's Capitol songs

"This could be considered a condensation of Faron's 5-volume box set. It contains the best of his Capitol recordings and provides an excellent listen for anyone who likes classic country music. I'm not sure why Amazon.com titled this "live" because it isn't."
