German hip hop ? unplugged ? goose pimples!

"Before I start, I have to state something. From a recent discussion about hip hop and rap, there might be somebody out there of you, saying there is no german hip hop. Because it's a cultural thing coming from NY and LA. OK. Maybe you are right. But far away from pidgeon holding, I can say, that those four guys from Stuttgart do quite a good job. For not being culturally grown, it's still quite good popular music. Located in a real cave in germany with lots of additional musicians - a classical orchestra & a nice rhythm section - the recording was special by itself. By the choice of their tracks they recorded, I would say it's a "best of Fanta 4", which we were waiting for - for years. Converted into live performance, it just underlines the professional way they not only play but live what they sing. My fav. best song they ever did so far, actually never was a hit-single: "Tag am Meer" - here everything is at its best point. Lyrics, music, atmosphere. Taking away a single note or word reduces the pleasure of listening. There is an infallible sign I always perceive, when listening to excellent stuff: I get goose pimples! I had those with "Tag am Meer|Picknicker|Millionen Legionen" 5 stars for the fantastic 4!"
German doesn't have to be a 'hard' language

"First of all - if you like Hip Hop, you should give these guys a chance. Even if you're not a die-hard Hip-Hop listener (like me), this album is so different, it's just out there by itself. Die Fantastischen Vier changed the Hip-Hop scene in Europe with their catchy tunes and lyrics using the German language like it had never been been used before. This album is somewhat of a 'best of', with an emphasis in their later work. But more important is that this concert is part of the MTV Europe unplugged series and was recorded in a cave! The sound is superb and the 4 artists are backed up by a wealth of classical instruments which gives songs like 'Millionen Legionen' a whole new (even better ) twist.
This album is awesome and ranks within the top5 CDs in my collection."

"You don't have to be German to love the group! I'm a Black American Female. I fell in love with the group when I was living in Kaiserslautern, Germany and I didn't have a clue about German. It was my first time in the country. The first song I had ever heard from them is Smou. It was rockin'! Ever since then, I'm a big fan! I first bought this CD when I was living in Frankfurt. However, it got stolen and I've been looking for another copy ever since. I've found my treasure here and I'm going to be replacing what I lost. This is a hot CD for the group! Also highly recommended 4:99. AAAAHHHH Smou!!"
Another great album from Fanta 4!

"I'm a big fan of german music, especially hiphop and electronica. The german-language music that gets produced is usually *really* good, keeping in mind that it has to compete against all of the American imports they have there (while US pop music doesn't need to compete against German imports). Die Fantastischen Vier (Fanta 4) are simply put one of the best German bands out there, and they have been out there for a while. They can effortlessly switch from slower tracks like "Alles Schon Gesehen" and "Millionen Legionen" to songs with big beats like "Die Stadt Die Es Nicht Gibt" (of which an amazing version is included on this CD). Simply put, this CD is a great compilation of great versions of Fanta 4's greatest songs. SO BUY IT!"
Heilige Scheisse- This is amazing!

"Coming from Canada I am bombarded with American music (blah). Its refreshing to hear something new and unique in my beloved German language. I was introduced to the DVD version in Italy and was overwhelmed. The beats are fett and if you understand the lyrics...well it gives you a whole other perspective. Its too bad MTV (the American one) won't air this stuff. If you want the visual, get the dvd. Its amazing to see the performance in the cave in Deutschland. Some good picks are: Der Picknicker, Millionen Legionen und MFG (mit Freundlichen Grüssen). This is definitely a cd worth buying..."
