CD Reviews

I love ebtg but...
Cramer | Milwaukee, WI | 04/13/2006
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I gave this 4 stars because they need to quit releasing greatest hits albums, and get to work on a new one. They've released +3 greatest hits albums since their last LP. All the songs are great on this album. If you're just getting in to ebtg, or getting in to their non-dance sounds, buy this. If you're looking for the dance, downbeat etc. aspects, get "Adapt or Die" if you want a nice greatest hits."
Missing home movies
Glady Rosales | Philippines | 07/01/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I became nostalgic hearing EBTG songs from a mix CD at a restaurant and remembered once owning the Home Movies collection, which is now lost. So after days of singing the tracks from my head, I decided to go out and get my self a new CD copy, crossing my fingers that they have it at the local record stores.

It wasn't, and this Platinum Collection is the only thing that they have of EBTG's. Comes with 16 tracks, about half of which were also in Home Movies and the other half covering some of EBTGs' 90s material. I rate it with a 4 because if Warner had intended it to be an primer to the EBTG freshman, it was appalling to note that "Cross My Heart" wasn't there. Plus, for me who just wanted a Home Movies replica, it felt incomplete not having "Love Is Strange", "Imagining America" and "Understanding".

This can be forgiven for its good mix of EBTG's cross-genre works, "Each and Everyone" (bossa nova), cover of Paul Simon's "Only Living Boy in New York", "Another Bridge" (country), "Come on Home" (orchestral), "I Didn't Know I Was Looking for Love" (light jazz), "Missing"/"Driving" (electronica), acoustic ("Apron Strings", "Fascination") and no-nonsense pop, "Old Friends", "I Was Always Your Girl" (which, my bad, I thought was a Jennifer Love Hewitt original, hahaha). Anyway, I was looking for a Home Movies fix so basically, this record has served its purpose."
