CD ReviewsI didn't know what to expect Dominique W | 08/04/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was including a review of the CD in my blog and linking it to Amazon. I was surprised to find that there aren't already some reviews here on Amazon.
There has been much talk from fans about what to expect from this new release. Many old-school fans hate the change. I wasn't sure what to expect and tried to give the first listen an open mind. I have to admit, that was harder than I expected. I'm not a big fan about the song by song breakdowns in reviews. I apologize if this is what you're looking for. I also don't usually review music as it's a love/hate thing for most. I'm posting this to give props to this album because it's becoming a new favorite. There is a new lead singer and the sound has changed from the two previous albums (that I still worship). At first listen I hated the first half of the disc but loved the last few songs. I tried to listen with an open mind but the old sound of the band is so engraved in my brain that it took some time to break the old mold of what I expect the band to sound like. Now that I've had a chance to listen more...I'm pretty much loving it all. Change is good. The old stuff was awesome but the new stuff is ranking up there too and the band has evolved and has proven that they are solid even without their former signature sound. This is one that hardcore fans need to embrace with an open mind. I recommend this. It's priced right to download and there is enough variety on the album to please both old and new fans." |
