CD ReviewsI beg to differ (a lot) Fritz Langlois | Second star to the right | 02/09/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "I couldn't disagree more with the previous reviewer. I for sure am no jazz critic, but I have ears and what I hear on this CD is improvised music (rather than "jazz") of the highest order. This session is a worthwhile entry into the work of prolific sax innovator Evan Parker. He is surrounded here by three London improvisers including the wonderful guitar player John Russell, as well as bass player John Edwards and one Aleks Kolkowski on various instruments. This is released on the Tzadik label, which by now should be considered as guarantee of quality music by audio fans of all stripes (and not just jazz). Which reminds me, there is another CD of Evan Parker music on Tzadik, TIME LAPSE (2006), which is a "solo" experiment and has three well deserved 5 stars reviews on this site. I am no Parker fan and have no time for his electro-acoustic pieces on the ECM label for example. On the other hand, HOUSE FULL OF FLOORS is my cup of tea, and while we're talking stellar improvisation on Tzadik I recommend buying and listening to AMERICA by Jack DeJohnette/Wadada Leo Smith, as well as to BEYOND QUANTUM by Anthony Braxton/William Parker/Milford Graves. Now, folks, that's impressive musical interplay for 2010 and the ages."
