"Since these four musicians had come to play in one of my music classes at San Francisco State the beginning of last semester, I haven't had the ability to get these guys out of my head! Their music is expressive freeform tribal jazz highly centered around percussion (Harold Murray in fact is quite proficient in the workings of the talking drum as heard on the title track) and extremely melodic despite the fact that the band preforms with only a sax and a trombone in the melody section. A note of high interest on the album is thier version of "All Blues", either a Davis or Coltrane track, that starts off with a beautiful Kalimba intro to the main statement and has a smooth melodic flow throughout the whole song. AMAZING! Other tracks worth noting are "Well you Needn't" with a highly powerful Tribal beat that moves the song with force and frenzy, and also the "Ancestral Song" that glides along Beautifully with the help of a background Kalimba track and great Sax hook. This is one album I know I'll never get rid of!!!!! Definitly worth checking out if you feel the need to explore the other worlds Jazz has been taken to, or if your just in the mood for a great listen-through! *****"
