"First things first. I had some doubts about the sound quality on these two CDs from the mid 40's. But after listening to them, I must say the quality on the first CD is pretty good and the second CD is top notch. There is no hiss and the piano sound is natural. If you already own "Concert by the sea", you should know the Savoy and Dial takes are much more crisp and clear. That can be a good comparison.
The music is great. Erroll Garner plays his particular style with grace and verve. The takes are from different sessions. On tracks 12-15 Garner is accompanied by a guitarist, making up a quartet. Tracks 18-25 are piano solo recordings. The rest of the tracks are trio settings."
Excellent Compilation

"of vintage Erroll Garner. The remastered sound is
quite good (Definitive seems to have a well deserved
reputation in this area).
There are some musicians like Mississippi John Hurt,
John Prine, and Erroll Garner that just make me smile.
Some joy in the performance that just overflows.
Dudley Moore: "Nothing in the arts has affected me
quite as much, before or after."

If you know Garner's music, and don't already have
this 1945-1949 material in a clean, listenable form,
here's your chance. I don't know how good this company
is about keeping stuff in print, but I'd hate to have
