"Not since the days of Arthure Lee and Nick Drake, as there been an album of such lush and beautiful pop music. These are not easy songs. While the melodies are inescapable, they are intricate and the lyrics obscure. But artists such as Love and Elvis Costello have always demanded more of our attention and, more importantly, deserved it. Without any reservations, let me say the same for Mr. Matthews."
A very warm sounding album with great songs.

""It's Heavy In Here" is an original piece of laid-back orchestral pop music. The songs are great, but the production is even better. In contrast to other albums released on Eric's label (Subpop), "It's Heavy" has a very full and warm sound that uses more harpsichords and oboes than distorted electric guitars. Worth getting."
We love this cd

"Several years on, one kid, one of us now in their 40's, love Radiohead, went through heavy Sebadoh, Oasis, Superdrag, Belle & Sebastian, Supergrass, Elliott Smith, and Sloan periods/obsessions, and we keep coming back to this brilliant cd. Not sure what Eric is doing these days but he was right, "Eric will haunt you."
The arrangements, vocals, lyrics and the entire fully sonic package is wonderful. Dinner party music, Sunday morning music with your chai, or even enjoying some fresh chiba on a warm summer night/or cold winter night; I think this suits any occasion.
Thank you Eric Matthews for this masterpiece."
"with his wispy, layered vocalizations, eric matthews is keen on his craft. can coax the indifference out of any educated listener. when will there be something new !!!!"
