"Eric Gale was one of the most in demand session guitarists, during the 1970's and 1980's. This versatile guitar master, played on many of the hit albums of that era. Most of his fans are well aqainted, with his jazz/funk guitar style that was made popular during his time with the Jazz group Stuff. Along with Cornell Dupree, Steve Gadd, Richard Tee, Christopher Parker, and Gordon Edwards, Stuff made four albums and played to a dedicated following on the east coast and Japan. The Cd "IN A Jazz Tradition", is a departure from that funkified fusion sound, and the results are stunning. Bassist Ron Carter, teams up with Eric, to provide a stripped down, classic jazz guitar sound, that is void of all the over production, giving the listener an intelligent clean sound of true classical jazz. The tunes "Eric's Gale", "Loose Change", and "Blues For Everybody", prove to be a captivating listen. This is Eric Gales finest moment in a true jazz sense and his only real pure jazz record, that was intented for jazz purists. Although long out of print, this cd shows up quite often on e-bay and Amazon's used cd network of dealers. If you are a fan of the late Eric Gale, I strongly urge you to seek out this disc, that was made by one of the great popular guitarist of our time."
