"Some would argue that Ernesto Lecuona is one of the masters of 20th century music. No one can argue he was the master of Cuban and Latin classical music. That is why this is a must have if you are a fan of Latin American music-period. Lecuona composed 1500 compositions, ranging from serious classical fare to pop and easy listening. Pop and easy listening because his music was so rhytmic and warm that Artie Shaw had a hit with Jungle Drums[Karabali} as well as the decade long career of the popular Lecuona Cuban Boys thru out Europe and North and South America. What is so marvelous here is Enrique Chia's playing and the orchestrations that accompany him. Chia is a masterful pianist with exceptional good taste who provides you with a sense of the dignity and seriousness of Lecuona's music- while communicating the warm feeling that made Lecuona a pop easy listening icon. The accompaning musicians are excellent and let you feel the rhthym and beat of Cuban music. If you only want one recording of Lecuona, this is it."
