"In the early 70's, Enoch Light assembled a group of musicians to re-record some of the most famous songs of the Big Band Era. The musicians had been members of many of the big name bands. They're renditions are true to the most popular arrangements but have the advantage of being recorded in full stereo. This isn't quite DDD quality but it is a vast improvement over the sound quality of the originals. The songs chosen are wonderful too! "Begin the Beguine", "String of Pearls", "Ciribiribin", "Woodchopper's Ball", "In the Mood", "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You", "Well, Git It" (This tune really swings and screams), "South Rampart Street Parade", "Marie", "Snowfall", "Let's Dance". "Take the A-Train". You'll find that these numbers represent a number of the bands and their different styles. This CD is part of a series. Start here. If you like this one, and my guess is you will, you'll love the others. This is a great intro. to the big band sound!"
