Synopsis

Album Description
GDM Music releases the complete score by Ennio Morricone for the dramatic movie "Rappresaglia" ("Massacre in Rome") directed in 1973 from George Pan Cosmatos. The film reconstructs the events the massacre of the "Fosse Ardeatine" based on the book " Death in Rome" by Robert Katz. Marcello Mastroianni is Father Antonelli, a roman priest specialized in restoration of art works, Richard Burton is nazi colonel Herbert Kappler. Some students of the priest are really partisans who make to explode a bomb in Via Rasella provoking the death of thirty-two German soldiers. Same Hitler sends to Rome a threatening letter with the order to organize a reprisal in order to scare the partisans. Father Antonelli is killed by the hands of the same Kappler. Ennio Morricone has composed a particularly dissonant orchestral score, dominated by a recurrent military march that is alternated to gloomy passages with strings of electronics with experimental flavour. The CD contains moreover the complete OST from the TV program "Dietro il processo" directed in 1979 by Franco Biancacci and divided in two episodes: "The Pasolini case" and "The Montesi case". Ennio Morricone has composed music that oscillates between the romantic and the dramatic, enriched with the flughehorn of Oscar Valdambrini. Officially only two tracks from this score were issued by RCA on the LP "Ennio Morricone/Oscar Valdambrini". De-luxe Booklet with eight full colour pages enriched with archives photo.
