CD ReviewsThe best record ive heard in a very long time... brian buscemi | austin, texas | 02/01/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "ive never written a record review before, so please bear with me. at the moment i feel that the enablers are more in the most unknown category than anything else. ive been asking everyone i know about them for months and ive yet to come across anyone whos heard of them. not only that, there seems to be a few bands out there with the same name. that said "end note" is nothing short of incredible. the band is from san fransisco, a four piece comprised of former members of such heavyweights as the swans, nice strong arm and june of '44. at times almost seeming like spoken word - but with a soundtrack, it envokes thought and emotion. i think that if a record creates an emotion in the listener... its doing its job. at times i see a general comparison to the album "spiderland" by now defunct "slint" which by the way is in my opinion one of the best records of the '90's. the guitar is both elegant and striking, regularly rising from slow, swingy, melodic notes to the erratic and abrasive. and the vocals are absolutely perfect, seeming more like poetry than song lyrics, if it were a book i would buy it. for me i imagine the best time to listen to this record is late at night, on the highway. but that isnt the only time, at this point ive listened to it at least a hundred times, and im not tired of it yet. highlights include: the whole f-ing thing. time to get my keys."
