Roses in the Snow

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was very pleased with the rereleased version of Emmy Lou Harris' Roses in the Snow. The quality was excellent. There were two additional songs; I really enjoyed. This was my first time ordering from Amozon. I plan to use them a lot in the future. This paticular Album has several BlueGrass songs featuring Riggy Skaggs on fiddle and mandolin. My favorite!"
A Great Bluegrass Album

"After making a basic country album "Blue Kentucky Girl", Emmylou makes a bluegrass album. I have to warn you, that it sounds a little bit different than in the 70's albums. The songs are kinda a little bit faster and also shorter than like for example in "Pieces of the Sky". The songs are great, however, and this is probably the best album she made in 80's. Many of the songs has gospel lyrics - I like it, for example "Jordan" and "Green Pastures". Although I love the fast songs, I also like the peaceful ones like for example "You're Learning" and "Miss the Mississippi And You". Emmylou's voice is so deep and touching. The upbeat songs "I'll Go Stepping Too" and "Jordan" are great examples how great bluegrass can be.
