"I have the pleasure of living in Buffalo NY only two hours away from Emilie's town of Toronto. She is an excellent jazz artist. Such a beautiful voice! I have also had to the pleasure to see her perform and she is outstanding. I have all her CD's at home and cannot wait for the Christmas CD this year! She is a wonderful, young, jazz artist. She should not be missed nor her music! The songs she chooses are wonderful for her voice."
Captivating

"Emilie-Claire Barlow's Like a Lover is a terrific collection that showcases the Canadian songstress's simultaneously breezy and thoroughly in-control voice beautifully and also captures her ability to scat and swing like a true jazz pro. Although her voice sometimes calls to mind the stylings of Blossom Dearie, Emilie-Claire's voice is utterly unique and it seems unfair to compare her to anyone, particularly because Dearie's straightforwardly distinctive style only speaks to one aspect of Emilie's vocal musings. Most of these tracks really showcase her virtuosity and highlight her confidence as she navigates seamlessly between Jobim's So Danco Samba, the Gerschwins' Someone to Watch Over Me and my personal favourite on the disc, On the Sunny Side of the Street. The Things We Did Last Summer is also a real gem.Keep your eye on Emilie-Claire Barlow--here's hoping that she can benefit commercially from the trailblazing females performing in the jazz idiom today such as Diana Krall, Norah Jones, and Jane Monheit. Like a Lover suggests she could join their ranks without missing a beat!"
