CD Reviews

Not a bad collection

"Released in 1972, this is a budget collection of previously recorded songs from Elvis' movies. It was a minor hit reaching number 87 on the Billboard album chart and was eventually certified PLATINUM by the RIAA. It includes several songs that had made the singles chart in the US including: They Remind Me Too Much Of You (peaked at number 53 in 1963), Frankie And Johnny (number 25 in 1966), Guitar Man (43 in 1968), Long Legged Girl (63 in 1967), You Don't Know Me (44 in 1967), and Big Boss Man (38 in 1967).

"As much as i love Elvis Presley this budget album from 1972 should,ve never been released.

This album should,ve started with the songs from Love me Tender and worked it,s way to Change of Habit instead of picking songs that didn,t make a dent.

There are some alot of his 60,s songs that should,ve been on this alobum other then old macdonald or When the saints go marching in .I,ll buy this cd because i,m a fan of Elvis"
DON'T BLAME ELVIS FOR THIS MATERIAL

"ELVIS RECORDED IT, YES. HE HAD TO, BECAUSE HE WAS GIVEN THE MATERIAL FOR THOSE MID 60'S SOGGY SOUNDTRACKS TO THE MOVIES HE HATED DOING. THERE ARE 2 SONGS ON HERE WORTH IT HOWEVER, AND THAT IS GUITARMAN & BIG BOSS MAN (NOT MOVIE MATERIAL AND THESE ARE FROM 1967/68).

IN RCA'S ATTEMPT TO SQUEEZE EVERY PENNY OUT OF THE AUDIENCE, THEY RELEASED THIS AND A FEW OTHER ALBUMS NOT WORTHY OF BEING ON THE SHELF. STAY AWAY FROM THESE ALBUMS WITH "CADMEN" ON THE LABEL. HOWEVER THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS.

****I SUGGEST LISTENING TO THE SELECTIONS ONLINE THRU AMAZON FIRST, THEN SEE IF IT FITS YOUR TASTE. DON'T SIMPLY BUY IT BECAUSE ELVIS' NAME IS ON IT.

I WISH RCA WOULD JUST GATHER ALL OF THIS MATERIAL AND KEEP IT FROM RELEASING IT, AND ALLOW ONLY THE BEST MUSIC OF THE KING TO SURVIVE.

WHENEVER I SEE ALBUMS LIKE THIS, I THINK OF MY OWN EXPERIENCE 30 YEARS AGO. IMAGINE A PERSON, ESPECIALLY A YOUNG ELVIS FAN, PURCHASING THIS ALBUM AND PLAYING IT. IMAGINE THE DISAPPOINTMENT FOR THE ARTIST HE LOVES. NOW IMAGINE THE RELUCTANCE TO BUY ANYTHING MORE.... AND PERHAPS (IN EXTREME CASES) THE ABANDONMENT OF BEING A FAN OF ELVIS BECAUSE HE BOUGHT THE WRONG ALBUM VERY EARLY IN HIS EXPLORATION OF ELVIS.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS ALBUM, AND BUY ELVIS MUSIC THRU AMAZON AFTER SAMPLING IT, AND MORE IMPORTANLY, I WOULD SAY BUY IT ONE SONG AT A TIME ON MP3.

THANKS"
