"This was the first and the best of Elvis' Gold Record series. Released in 1958, it peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Album chart and would eventually sell more than 6 million copies in the US. It includes his early, historic RCA hits. It includes 9 number 1 hits in the US (Hound Dog, All Shook Up, Heartbreak Hotel, Jailhouse Rock, Too Much, Don't Be Cruel, Teddy Bear, Love Me Tender, and I Want You I Need You I Love You), another song that made the top ten (Love Me), and three other songs that hit the top 30 (Loving You, Treat Me Nice, and Anyway You Want Me). The only miss is That's When Your Heart Aches Begin which was the B-side of All Shook Up and was a minor hit peaking at 58 on the Billboard singles chart.
While this was a historic release in its day, it has since been superseded. There are better greatest hits collections available now, such as the outstanding Elv1s: 30 #1 Hits or the 3 CD HitStory collection.
