One-two-three, one-two-three, one-two-three. The simple, tuneful rhythm of guitars and mandolin insinuates itself into your head. No sooner than you've mentally kicked back to relish the predictable beauty, it blossoms with Vale's pensively sultry voice: "I lie here in my bed at night, Wondering alone, Flipping through the channels, As words are tumbling down." As the song's narration moves imagistically toward resolution, Vale's voice builds, choral harmonies caress, and instruments assert themselves. Like a meadowlark with percussionist ambitions, Joel's mandolin flits around the instrumental theme with increasingly dazzling variety. Propelled by the rising excitement of the song--eyes widened, pulse quickened, one sighs relief with a gentle landing."
