"All the early punk rockers ever wanted was to make pop music. The Ramones said they wanted to be like The Beatles on speed. Blondie idolized Phil Spector's girl-group pop.
And with Society, Secret, Elevator Action has picked up that legacy, offering catchy hook, pretty harmonies and enough attitude to take the snarl off Billy Idol's face.
This is not hardcore. And that's OK. EA takes influence from the expressive glam rock of David Bowie and The New York Dolls, with the cocky sarcasm of new wave acts like Costello or Blondie, and uses it to craft edgy pop songs that are as accessible as they are personal.
