Album DescriptionLong awaited, this split release collects two amazing EP's from Viva Voce's Kevin Robinson (as k.Rza presenting Electric iLL) and the Siamese Sisters produced Vla Hemia project. The first half collects the five sought after tracks from the much whispered of Vla Hemia (MC Vinch Kashmir and Siamese Sisters). Think Golden Age Hip-Hop (Blowout Comb, Midnight Marauders, Juggaknots EP) without a retro-wish to be fresh in '94. Vinch Kashmir raps with his head both in the clouds and in early 90?s hip-hop mags. Pop culture, romantic righteousness and pure groove permeate. In keeping with tradition Vla Hemia wears all influences prominently on sleeve: check the Tribe allusion on "Sky Driftn?" and "Stash Blvd. (Remix)" screams New York sound for those who remember Camp Lo. The stale same-ness of under/overground rap is side stepped. Joy and style have returned. Electric iLL is the "trash-hop" side project of Viva Voce?s Kevin Robinson. Under the pseudonym of k.Rza, Robinson mixes in his live drums, samples and lunchtray turntablism with is own pitchshifted drawl. Soul-Junk's Galaxalag and Slo-Ro are tapped for phoned in (literally) raps and NY's JSRockit, who delivers a hilarious and whimsical verse on the filthy "Non-Moley Yease." Headphone powered listens will reveal multiple layers to the madness: musical saws lurk in the stereo crevices of "Trodtadot" and the dry tremolo-ed guitars of "Funaise" remind of Diamond D?s remix of the Ras Kass classic "Soul On Ice." Somewhere in the backmasked rhymes of "Au Yu Yae" k.Rza spills the secrets of his Electric iLL.
