"Very good release from ESL, although it's hard to describe what Ocote sounds like and even harder to know what do they had in mind and what they wanted us to feel, but certainly it was thought to delight the listener as this is a very good recording. Some tracks are a bit short (and odd) but most of them are being executed in supreme way to make me transport to the south cone. Not jazzy sound, not chillout, not hip-hop, not trip-hop, not completely funky nor lame sound...but it's just like if you take all of these into a blender adding a spice of upbeat exotica and afro sound (with horns and flute included), it can even sound just like a mistical tune in some tracks.
I would say Ocote sounds just like if Thievery Corporation-meets-AntibalasAfrobeatOrchesta-meets-Gecko Turner and they are all drinking Absinth in the middle of the mexican desert...
