"Francisco Gallego (c.1905-1968), with his wide knowledge, high smooth voice and mastery of fandango-derived cantes, was considered the natural successor to Antonio Chacón. Here (with the same accompanists -- and recording dates -- as Pepe de la Matrona) he performs feelingly, not only the ones for which he was famous, but the cantes mineras, and even a couple of seguiriyas -- in which connection, the last track is a serrana (a slower form of seguiriya), not a serenata as stated.
It should be said that in his day, El Niño recorded a great deal of crap; these tracks, however, have been meticulously selected. Highly recommended.
The total time is 48'44"
