"Like melodic metal but think some of the stuff might be a little too cheesy for your tastes? Looking for a band that sounds like Iron Maiden without being a rip-off? Edguy probably fits the bill - fast, bombastic metal with melody (no screaming either) and great musicianship but they don't quite stray into the over-the-top territory that make some bands uncomfortable for the average listener. So if you're not a Mighty Warrior of Steel Fighting For Metal Glory, but like metal, check this band out. (If you are the aforementioned type, you probably already like this band!) My one gripe with Edguy, (and by association, Avantasia) is that they tend to overexaggerate the transitions - there are a number of places where they hold chords for easily twice as long as good tastes mandates and as a result, a musical idea that would have been great as a subtlety is crammed down the listener's throat. That's it - my only gripe. And it's not all over the album, it's just in a few spots. On the positive side, Tobias Sammet is an AMAZING singer. I can't stress this enough. He rules behind the microphone. Seriously. His vibrato is to die for. And, if the writings in the booklets are any indication, he is a great guy to meet in person. The guitar solos stay more in the hummable-melody area than the show-off shred stuff, although there is plenty of exciting leadwork to be found here. Very symphonic, and the last track is epic. Lyrically this, like most Edguy material, is a questioning of religious conventions and the issue remains mostly unresolved at the end, despite the title track's "positive" sounding final section. And for those who complain that power metal bands take themselves too seriously, let the last track play on after the song ends for a taste of Tobias's goofy sense of humor!Bottom line, this is great German metal and truly deserves to be compared to the old-time greats. Great music, no ego, great fun, no pretention."

"From the Opening chords of Healing Vision to the incredible Theater of Salvation, this album is a complete rocker. It is stylish, clean and melodic rock at its best, the songs are catchy and the riffs hit hard. Major improvement from earlier records, and a sign of what to expect. Its maybe a bit more commercial sound, more mainstream, but sometimes you need to shift focus and look around. Putting some melodies and some more enjoyable music into what you do, can help a lot. And thats what this album does. It perfects a formula, until the part where it becomes a little too clean and on the edge of being too predictable. Thats the only drawback, unlike Mandrake, this album doesnt sound as new and fresh. When thats said, this album more than deserves its 4 stars. Songs like my favorite Land of the Miracle, Falling Down and Theater of Salvation is just awesome, and they are worth the price alone. The rest of the songs are quite good, and no one falls under average, which is quite a result.
Edguy, which becomes better and better for every album, certainly knows how to take their experience to the next level. From the good Vain Glory Opera, to Theater of Salvation, to the fantastic Mandrake, they are met with high expectations for their next studio album. Theater of Salvation is a very good album. As said, its only flaw is the somehow predictable songs, but that doesnt make them any less good. I always think of Pink Floyd everytime I hear the song Theater of Salvation, and thats as good praise as any band can get, and in a way, Edguy manages to be what they try, a superb Heavy Metal Band, with excellent musicians, solid lyrics, impressive vocals and hard hitting, yet wonderful melodies.Four Stars is proudly given to Edguy for their Stunning Effort."

"Edguy rulz!!!!! is one of the finest metal acts in the world, they are very good musicians, all Edguy albums are great, and the new one "Burnin down the Opera" its superb!!!!!!! They are obviously influenced by metal gods Helloween, but who cannot be influenced by such band...????? Listen carefully to any of the Edguy albums, you wont be disapointed........STAY HEAVY!Other bands you should listen to: Kamelot, Helloween (New cd!), Mago de Oz, Tierra Santa, Children Of Bodom, EDGUY :) , Godiva, Iced Earth,"
