"Of course I'm talking about my thoughts concerning this most excellent record, so get your minds out of the toilet, will ya'.
Anytime the Supersuckers or in this case Eddie Spaghetti has a new release coming out, expectations are always high and with good cause. The fans have always been spoiled by one great record after another and old no.2 only continues to keep future expectations high if not higher.
This is a record that everyone can enjoy. Not just the "People of Impeccable Taste" (that's the P.I.T or Supersuckers fan club members) but all people who appreciate truly great music.
An interesting selection of covers including Bob Dylan's "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You", Nick Lowe's "Without Love", AC/DC's "Carry Me Home", The Coasters "Hey Sexy", Tom Waits "I Don't Wanna Grow Up", Willie Nelson's "Everywhere I Go" to Aerosmith's "Sick As A Dog" performed by Quattro- Rockin' out, son of the Spaghetti's.
Plus 4 Eddie originals, and if ya' know anything about Eddie or the Supersuckers, or you listen to Eddie himself, you know how good that's gonna be.
In my first review of old no.2, I wrote it was an excellent/fun album. That just seems downright belittling, leaving out so much else. So can I say in as few words as possible:
Great, Honest music, delivered honestly from the heart and dare I say soul of:
Eddie Spaghetti - Vocals, acoustic, electric and bass guitars.
and feauturing the talented:
Mike Murderburger - Drums and percussion "lots of percussion" and
Jordan Shapiro - Electric, acoustic, dobro and pedal steel or as Eddie writes, "basically anything that sounds hard to play-he played it" (see what I mean about the honesty)
So, treat yourself and the people you care about to a really great record from the first track to the last. Like me, you won't be able to hold the old no.2 in...Ya' know, how much you dig it.

Old No.2 is the type of CD that you will play over and over, singing along to the catchy tunes. This is a fun record and should appeal to fans across several musical genres.
Eddie Spaghetti and friends have done it right on this one!"

"i am happy and damn lucky to say that I have gotten a wiff of "ol #2" and its a sweet smell indeed....this second outting for the supersucker's Eddie Spaghetti is nothing short of a big plate of home style spaghetti..the cd kicks off with a Dylan classic "Tonight I Will Be Staying here With You"...The minute Eddie starts singin, there is no doubt this guy has come of age as a killer vocalist who pulls you in with emotion and leaves you wanting so much more..the second track is "All Along" and is a fun high tempo Lousianna Zydeco type of romp..3rd track "Some People Say" is a soft CCR vibe type of song that is beautifully haunting...picking up the pace is "Without Love" another 2 steppin tempo pick me up....out of nowhere track 5, Carry Me Home shifts the mood to a swing vamp, and without a doubt this song will be a Spaghetti classic.Closing my eyes i felt as if i was in a smoky jump joint while Eddie worked an orchestra into a frenzy dressed in tails and tophat....i must confess that reviewing promo copies is tough cause I dont know which songs are written by Ed and which songs are covers since i dont have no liner notes to the CD, which is a huge reason to buy a copy of Ol #2 rather than copy one or go the promo route such as I have..so that bein said if Carry Me Home is Eddies, major props to him and if not ,what a daring bold choice for a cd that i believe most are expecting to be country bias..track 6,Hey Sexy, brings the country back in bustin down the door...the band Eddie has assembled for this one can really cook..im sorry i dont know who is backin Ed on this CD but im sure its a lot of the usual suspects that are incredible musicians.
ahhhh track 7 kicks off with slide guitar, a definate staple of the Supersuckers..it's title is "I Dont Wanna Know" this is a very crossover type of country song that wouldnt surprise me if it became a hit (again assuming its an original)..track 8, Here We Go is a very sweet companion to track 7, more of the same classic beer drinkin and passin out type of music that makes Eddie such a fun artist to listen to...track 9 is a huge surprise...its called "I Dont Wanna Grow Up" this is Eddies mantra without a doubt...whether he picked this song or wrote it, it is as much Eddie as I can think of...a perfect song...there is a reference to a cemetary on Grant street so im thinkin Ed wrote this one...I totally love this tune, as i reminince about growin up with Ed..."Everywhere I Go" track 10 starts off with an awesome spanish classical feel that grows into a haunting song about love...there is a girl singing background that i am very excited to find out who it is cause she really adds a new dimension to Eddies crooning..ok here comes the thing that Eddie's gonna live over and over again with every review..just as any artist knows you never share the bill with someone who you know is gonna upstage you...i know you all are foaming at the mouth to know who this person could be...Ed upstaged? never happen.....hmmmmmm or could it...ladies and gentlemen i give you track 11 and the real "greatest rocker in the whole world" Edward "quatro" Spaghetti...Eddie what were you thinkin...this kid of yours has stolen the thunder away from a tremendously thunderous album..this has got to be the coolest cameo i have EVER heard...Ed's little boy Quatro does the kids bop version of the Aerosmith classic "Sick As A Dog" (which i KNOW Ed didnt write cause as kids we couldnt even figure out how to play it) no doubt Ed put this last as to not steal the show. Bravo Quatro....I hold the eternal lighter up high for you..not only is quatro lights out on this, but it is a rare hip hop spin on the aerosmith classic...very creative...so if its to add to the huge Supersuckers/Spaghetti library you are looking for or just a beautifully blended masterful sophmore gem that WILL be essential for a fan, this album easily gets 4 and a half out of 5 stars from me...id love to give it a 5 but im savin that score for when Ed lets me play tamborine on one of his discs....ah hell with it,.....ITS A 5 !!!!! "Ol # 2" is anything but crap....my advice is get off your butt and buy your copy cause this one is huge !!"
