"Eddie Kendricks shows in this album that he was the best countertenor to come out of Motown. Not only that but his falsetto mystic forever gives us a full view of his style of singing that will never be again."
Beyond Motown, Eddie can STILL boogie down!

"This album was Eddie's first solo effort after he left Motown in the late 1970s. I'm sure many were predicting (and maybe even hoping) that he would fail being away from the Motown stable. Well, surprize!!! Eddie kept on truckin' and made this wonderful LP, VINTAGE '78. The biggest single from this offering was "Ain't No Smoke Without Fire", one of the best disco jams I've ever heard, but what really shines here is Eddie's finesse with the songs he loved to sing the most ~ the love ballads. I can't even pick out one of those love songs to say is the best because every one of them is outstanding, beautifully orchestrated, and pleasant to listen to. This CD also includes extra tracks from the follow up album to VINTAGE '78, SOMETHING MORE. Sweet Eddie undoubtedly was one of the best performers that ever came out of Motown, and one of the few who succeeded after leaving. Don't hestitate to get this CD."

"Eddie at his best! I have the original LP for Vintage '78, but I had to get the CD. And I was fortunate to get it because of the extra tracks. A must for DYE-HARD Kendricks fans!"
Excellent!

"I think this is one of Eddie Kendricks best. This CD shows how gifted he was as a singer. Most people think of Keep on Trucking when they think of Eddie Kendricks. This is a must for any real Eddie Kendricks fan."
